Tomy Drissi Bringing HERCULES PC For The Sahlen Six Hours at the Glen

Joining forces with John Church and JDC Miller Motorsports, Tomy Drissi will drive the No. 85 HERCULES/Showdown Display/Red Line Oil JDC-Miller MotorSports ORECA FLM09 in the PC division of Sunday’s Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship heads to Watkins Glen International for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen (FOX Sports 1, 11 a.m. ET.) Sharing the driving duties will be season regulars, Chris Miller and South African, Stephen Simpson.

The Prototype Challenge (PC) class will mark the WGI debut for the ORECA FLM09 and JDC/Miller Motorsports, along with teams including CORE Autosport, BAR1 Motorsports, RSR Racing and Performance Tech Motorsports.

Watkins Glen has been making North American racing history since 1948, when cars raced on the public roads of the picturesque village in the upstate New York Finger Lakes region. Sports cars, Formula One, even NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock cars – fans at Watkins Glen have seen it all.

“I’m really excited to drive this JDC Miller Motorsports’ prototype at Watkins Glen,” said Tomy. It’s high time the fans got to see these cars on this historic track. I’ve been looking forward to this all season. We’ve got a great driver line up and a strong car. We’re expecting good things.”

“Fans are going to love seeing the PC car in the HERCULES livery,” added Tomy. “We ran a similar scheme on our Cup car last week at the NASCAR race in Sonoma and the car was a huge success.”

HERCULES, starring Dwayne Johnson, opens in theaters July 25th. Both man and myth, Hercules (Dwayne Johnson) leads a band of mercenaries to help end a bloody civil war in the land of Thrace and return the rightful king to his throne. A tormented soul from birth, Hercules has the strength of a God but feels the suffering of a human. Unimaginable villains will test the mythical power of Hercules in Director Brett Ratner’s gritty take on one of the most epic action heroes of the ages.

At Watkins Glen, Patrón Endurance Cup points will be awarded in two segments. Leaders in all four TUDOR Championship classes receive five points at the three-hour mark and the finish. Teams running second in each class are awarded four points at the end of each segment, with three points for third and two points for all remaining competitors.

Drivers in each class who earn the most points in Sunday’s race each will receive a limited edition, 750 ml bottle of Gran Patrón Platinum tequila signed by the distiller. Entrants for teams in each class that earn the most points at Sebring each will also receive a custom IMSA Paul Reed Smith S2 guitar.

The 2014 Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup encompasses the four iconic endurance races in the TUDOR Championship:  the Rolex 24 At Daytona at Daytona International Speedway on Jan. 25-26; the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida at Sebring International Raceway on March 15; the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International on June 29; and the 1,000-mile or 10-hour Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta on Oct. 4.

The competition’s Prototype (P) and GT Le Mans (GTLM) champion teams each will be awarded $100,000; Prototype Challenge (PC) and GT Daytona (GTD) champions receive $50,000.

Tequila Patrón is the entitlement partner of the four-race North American Endurance Cup and Official Spirits Partner of IMSA and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. In addition, Tequila Patrón will continue its primary sponsorship of the two-car Extreme Speed Motorsports team in the Prototype (P) class, as well as its title sponsorship of the TUDOR Championship event on the streets of Long Beach, Calif., on April 11.

The Tudor United Sports Car Championship, formerly the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, merged with the Grand-Am Road Racing Series at the conclusion of the 2013 season.  In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars - purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles - race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing.  All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies.  The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom.  The Tudor United Sports Car Championship competes at North America’s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
