Tomy Drissi Enjoys Second Place LMPC Finish In Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach

When the checkered flag dropped on the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, Tomy Drissi and teammate Kyle Marcelli found themselves and the No. 89 Lenco Mobile / Intersport Racing / X-Men First Class / DynaPep LMPC prototype standing on the second spot at the podium in LMPC. Acknowledging a total team effort, Drissi was ecstatic with the day's results.

"This was a big turning point for our team," added Trans-Am Champion Tomy Drissi. "Everyone on the team pushed each other to do better all weekend. In the end, after two hours of racing against some of the best drivers in the world, we only missed the win by a margin of seconds."

With the nature of the Long Beach track and heated competition in the ALMS series' hotly contested GT class, LMPC drivers found themselves in the thick of the action for most of the day. The difference in the GT times and LMPC times was negligible.

"We were pushing hard," noted Drissi "I was driving 10/10ths on every lap doing my best negotiating traffic in order to make good time. It was pretty exciting with all that was going on. After driving the best drive I've had in the ALMS, it was reassuring knowing I was turning the car over to my co-driver, Kyle Marcelli. Kyle is a great teammate."

"I was thrilled running the car at Long Beach running our X-Men: First Class livery, added Tomy. "Without their support and the continued support of Muscle Milk none of this would be possible. Sponsorship is such an important part of what we do. And of course, we all owe a debt of gratitude to Jon and Clint Field for getting us here. I can't thank them enough!"

Tomy was extremely complimentary to his team and teammates at Intersport Racing.

"As maybe the smallest team in the field," noted Tomy, "we showed that the team can run up front. With the right partner, I know we can win races and fight for a championship. We may be a small team compared to others, but Intersport Racing has a big heart and lots of talent."

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will take its traditional break for those teams preparing to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and return for Round 3, the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, on July 9. The race will be shown live and in its entirety on ESPN3.com in the United States and internationally on americanlemans.com starting at 1:05 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will provide television coverage from 1 to 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 10.
