Tomy Drissi & Kyle Marcelli Top Of The Podium At Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge

Intersport Racing Sweeps Top Spots in LMPC!
Driving the No. 89 Intersport Racing In Time / Muscle Milk LMPC car was only one race in Tomy Drissi's weekend triple header at Mid-Ohio. But for Tomy and co-driver Kyle Marcelli it was the biggest. The win is the third consecutive American Le Mans Series LMPC podium Tomy and Kyle have combined for.

"I knew this would be a special weekend for us," said Drissi. "Everything Kyle and I have done together has been leading up to this. Intersport put a fantastic car under us… and the most competition came from our sister car, the No. 37 Lenco Mobile LMPC driven by Clint and Jon Field. And let me tell you… that was a blast."

Clint and Jon finished second to the No. 89 car in the rain shortened event.  The 1-2 finish was the perfect way to celebrate the team's homecoming. With Clint back behind the wheel and friends and family on hand to cheer, it was a huge day for the Dublin, Ohio based team.

"This is why you race," added Tomy. "A win like this… a 1-2 finish with your team mates… wow, it's just indescribable. I'm having such a great time driving with Kyle and working with Intersport. It's just great!"

Drissi took the fight to Genoa Racing`s Eric Lux shortly after some early contact between Lux and CORE autosport`s Ricardo Gonzalez. Even with a stop-and-go penalty for avoidable contact, followed by a pit lane speed violation, the No. 89 endured much less drama than its LMPC competition.
"There was a point where there was a change for the lead within a few corners," said Tomy. "I`m still not sure what happened (with the penalty).  There was another car in the mix, and it turned out to be a back-marker. All I know, I spun him or her around and I was mortified. I thought I was going to get a stop-and-go. I thought I might lead this thing for Kyle when I come in for the stop. When I thought they were going to let me go, they said it, `stop and go`. I got back on the track, and then we got a speeding penalty. I don`t know if it was me or the car."

Ultimately it was a spin by Lux`s teammate, Christian Zugel as the rain started, that enabled Kyle Marcelli to take hold of the lead.

The race ended under a red flag after a three-car incident sent the Flying Lizards' Patrick Long off the track and into a gravel trap during a heavy rain. All cars were directed into the pits with about six minutes left in the race because of standing water on the track which was making driving conditions treacherous.

IN TIME - In Theaters October 28th

In Time presents a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there's a catch: you're genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich "earn" decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo's love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system. [VIEW TRAILER]

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón is the world`s leading sports car championship and is recognized as the Global Leader in Green Racing. In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars - purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles - race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing. All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies. The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom. The ALMS competes at North America`s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
