Tomy Drissi Uses Pit Stop Strategy For Top-10 Finish at Chevrolet Sports Car Classic.

Tomy Drissi finished 7th at the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic on the raceway at Belle Isle in Detroit. Driving with Sebastian Asch and campaigning the Muehlner Motorsports America Porsche 911 GT America sponsored by MGM / Columbia Pictures ’22 Jump Street’  starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill coming to theaters June 13. When the yellow full course caution came out about 40 minutes into the 100 minute event, Tomy and the Muehlner team made the strategic decision not to pit. The strategy put the team in the lead. Despite a late-race penalty for passing under the yellow flag, the team finished the race in 7th place. For Muehlner, this was the team’s best finish of the season, and the alternate pit strategy of staying out for two successive yellow flags - kept Tomy in the GT lead for almost half the race.

“What a great fight,” said Tomy after the race. “Sebastian did a great job and this team beat some of the biggest teams in GT racing. The ’22 Jump Street’ Porsche looked awesome. We struggle a bit in practice and qualifying, but come race day, this team really kicked some butt. We lead the race and finished 7th… even with the penalty.”

“And Belle Isle was amazing,” added Tomy. “You have to love the heart of this town. The fans came out with huge support and it was just a gorgeous day. I never get over the excitement of being in the Motor City!”

“It was a crazy race,” said Bernhard Muehlner, owner, No. 18 Muehlner Motorsports America Porsche 911 GT America. “But our drivers Sebastian Asch and Tomy Drissi did a great job, with Drissi leading the GTD class for almost an hour. Asch is an experienced driver in Europe, but new to a circuit like Detroit, while Drissi has raced dozens of time on the Detroit and Long Beach street circuits. As much as we missed the setup yesterday in qualifying, the car was great today, and we might have finished even higher if we didn’t get a penalty for passing under yellow – we’re not even sure at this time when that happened as neither driver remembered being in that situation.”

The next race of the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship schedule is June 28-29 at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.

22 Jump Street - After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don't have to just crack the case - they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

The Tudor United Sports Car Championship, formerly the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, merged with the Grand-Am Road Racing Series at the conclusion of the 2013 season.  In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars - purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles - race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing.  All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies.  The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom.  The Tudor United Sports Car Championship competes at North America’s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
