Tomy Drissi Heads to VIR for Trans Am Showdown

Fresh off his win at Watkins Glen International Speedway, Trans Am Champion Tomy Drissi, driving the No. 8 The Predator Camaro, will join Burtin Racing and his teammate, Lawrence Loshak (No. 2 Pennzoil Camaro), looking to continue the team’s recent success in the TA division of 2018 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli.

“We are seeing a big difference in the performance of this team,“ said Tomy. “We struggled mid season with some mechanical issues, but maintained our focus and began working together to share information and overcome common issues as a team. Since then we’ve really gelled. Lawrence and I have been sharing information. The crews have been sharing information. And I think Claudio has done a great job of getting everybody on the same page, working toward a bigger picture and the team as a whole. It’s pretty special and I’m enjoying it a lot!”

The strategy Tomy describes was on display at Watkins Glen. Both he and Loshack managed their cars well through the early stages of the race and Tomy managed to take the lead while Loshak continued working his way through the pack. As the race wound down, the Burtin duo found themselves competing for the win. It was Tomy who managed to hold Loshack at bay sealing a 1-2 podium for the team.

To coincide with Round 9 of the 2018 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship, Burtin Racing is hosting a shootout of a different kind, Trans Am participants are invited to a night of skeet shooting and target practice with local Vets and Special Forces – including cigars, BBQ and drinks held at the VIR Range in Alton, Virginia. The event starts Thursday, Sept 20 at 7pm.

In a Breitbart Sunday News interview Tomy Drissi shared his thoughts on the upcoming Burtin Racing hosted event, “I’m really excited to be Racing at Virginia International Raceway. It’s just one of the best race tracks in the country. There’s going to be some veterans and special forces – Deployment Cigars and Racing for Heroes are going to be involved with us. Our Trans Am paddock is really involved in supporting the Vets. We’re really proud to sit down and speak with the people who support and protect us. I’m just a proud driver to be racing with the Burtin Racing….Trans Am is made in America!”

The weekend’s action on track begins Thursday with two sessions of testing. Official practice for the TA class is slated for Friday morning, with the all-important qualifying session later on Friday afternoon. Grid for the race is at 5:05pm ET Saturday with the green flag start scheduled for 5:35pm ET.

The PREDATOR

Opens September 14, 2018. From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
