Trans-Am Chapmpion In For Rick Ware Racing At The NASCAR Nationwide Zippo 200

American Le Mans Series driver and Trans Am Champion Tomy Drissi takes to the track at Watkins Glen for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Zippo 200 driving the No. 41 Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked / Muscle Milk, Ford Mustang. This is Tomy’s organizational debut for Rick Ware Racing.

Drissi will compete in the two remaining road courses in the Nationwide Series. He’ll then represent RWR for the 50th running of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

Tomy was on-hand for Friday’s practice at the Glen and was very encouraged with his results.

“The No. 41 Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked / Muscle Milk, Ford Mustang feels good,” said Tomy. “But it’s a bit tough getting used to these cars. You certainly don’t want to over drive it. I know I left a little bit out there today.. we’ll be better tomorrow.”

Drissi finished 18th last year in his series debut at Montreal. This past weekend Tomy reached the top of the podium with a win in the American Le Mans Series LMPC division at Mid-Ohio. He also recently captured podiums in the American Le Mans Series at Lime Rock and Long Beach.

“I’m excited to race at Watkins Glen and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve,” stated Drissi. “I’ve done well at these tracks in the past. I feel I have an opportunity to run at the front in both races,”

“Tomy will be one of our major features in the 50th running of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona for 2012 for RWR,” stated Rick Ware, owner of RWR. “To get him in a car this early, no matter what kind, gives us a strong baseline of what he likes and needs to go fast. He is a great addition to our program.”

Fans can tune in Saturday morning to hear Tomy on Sirius Radio’s Nationwide coverage.

The green flag will fall on the Zippo 200 at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by the Canadian Tire 200 at 6:00 p.m. NASCAR will make a decision tomorrow morning as to whether qualifying for the Zippo 200 and Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Sprint Cup Series race will be held per the official NASCAR rule book.

NASCAR officials confirmed that the Nationwide Series race will start as planned even if it rains tomorrow at Watkins Glen International. There is only a 40 percent chance of rain for the Zippo 200 on Saturday afternoon and the Canadian Tire 200 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race that night so fans will be treated to plenty of racing, the only question is whether it will be in the wet or the dry. Many races at WGI have been held in the rain over the years, but it would be the first time ever a NASCAR race had been run in such conditions at The Glen.

Tomy will be back in The American Le Mans Series when the ALMS eturns to the Atlantic seaboard with the first running of the Baltimore Grand Prix Saturday, September 3, 4:30 p.m. ET. The circuit in downtown Baltimore will run along the city`s Inner Harbor, making the venue one of the most picturesque in ALMS history. The race will be streamed live on ESPN3.com beginning at 4:15 p.m. ET, Sept. 3 and air with a tape delayed feature on ABC at 4 p.m. ET, Sept. 4
