Trans Am Champion Will Debut In Toyota/Save Mart 350 At Infineon Raceway

Trans Am Series Champion Tomy Drissi will drive the No. 37 Rise Of The Planet of The Apes Ford in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway this weekend. The Rolex Grand Am Series and American Le Mans Series driver’s arrival marks the beginning of his participation in the No. 37 car and at upcoming road course events and possibly some premier oval track dates as well.

Just off an outstanding 2nd place finish with the ALMS at Long Beach, Drissi will drive the #37 Rise of the Planet of the Apes Ford this weekend and then the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen and Montreal later this season. Additionally, Drissi will race the 50th running of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, an event he has wanted to race his entire career but not had the right opportunity until now.

“Having Tomy Drissi in the No. 37 car is exciting,” stated both Larry Gunsleman and Rick Ware. “We have watched Tomy race his entire career. Being able to put him into the No. 37 and bring him to our NASCAR program will provide another avenue for our collective marketing partners.”

“I’m really excited and looking forward to this opportunity,” said Tomy Drissi. “We think this will provide our sponsors, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Muscle Milk, with fantastic exposure to a much wider audience. I really appreciate the effort Rick Ware and Larry Gunsleman have put into bring me into their program.”

Action at Infineon gets underway on Friday, June 24th at 9:00 am EST with Sprint Cup Series practice. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 3:00 EST with the race on Sunday at noon EST on TNT.
