With a mission of bringing awareness to Project ALS, Tomy Drissi is thrilled with the outcome of his weekend at the US Grand Prix and the Circuit of the Americas.
Driving the No. 58 Muhlner Motorsport Porsche, Tomy chose to forego his usual box office spectacular motion pictures gracing the liveries of his car and instead dedicated his weekend to raising awareness to Project ALS.
“This was a great weekend all the way around,” said Tomy. “The Formula 1 crowd turned out in full force at Circuit of the Americas. It was a blast and we couldn’t have been happier with the exposure we got for Project ALS. This is something very close to home for me. Lacy (Drissi) and I believe strongly in the Project ALS… we wanted to do something to keep the research efforts in the forefront. It seemed like a great opportunity with all the excitement here at COTA, so we passed on the big support we get from the studios and major movie sponsors to keep pushing the Project ALS message out there.”
“We had a tough time finding the balance on the car,” Drissi noted. “But once we got around to the race, I felt we did a great job. We moved up ten spots in both races. Given the experience the other 29 teams had from running all year, we were fairly pleased with the result.”
Tomy Drissi is an American driver and Trans Am Champion. His driver experience includes ALMS, Trans-Am, NASCAR and Speed World Challenge.
Born December 9 in Hollywood, California, Tomy owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas. Drissi’s first racing experience in motorsports was street racing on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

2011 saw Tomy’s return to the American Le Mans LMPC division. He scored a 2nd at Long Beach, 3rd at Lime Rock, 1st at Mid Ohio,1st at Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix and second at Road Atlanta -Petit Le Mans.
2012, Drissi teamed with Bruno Junqiera for finishing 2nd at Laguna Seca, a win at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park), 2nd at Baltimore and second at the season finale, Petit Lemans.
2013 NASCAR CUP/Nationwide. Best result at Mid Ohio starting 38th and finishing 19th.
2014 IMSA LMPC at Daytona 3rd.

Project A.L.S. was founded in 1998, as a non-profit 501(c)3, when Jenifer Estess, a 35-year-old New York theater and film producer, was diagnosed with ALS.
Told at the time of diagnosis to “max out her credit cards and eat junk food,” Jenifer instead committed her efforts to making a difference for people with ALS—and producing treatments and a cure.
Historically, ALS research was conducted by committed ALS researchers working separately on various aspects of the disease.
Project A.L.S. changed that approach dramatically by requiring that researchers and doctors from many disciplines work together, share data openly, and meet shared research milestones.
