The Amzaing Spider-Man 2 TRG Aston Martin Ready for the ROAR on the Shore
Hollywood native, Tomy Drissi will make his 2014 World Challenge debut when the Pirelli World Challenge returns to the Streets of Long Beach to compete in the “Roar by the Shore” presented by KIA. World Challenge GT/GT-A and GTS teams and drivers will take to the streets Friday, April 11 – Sunday, April 13 for the ultimate Street Fight.
No stranger to the tough streets of Long Beach, Tomy and Drissi Motorsports will team up with TRG-AMR fielding The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Aston Martin for this epic GT battle. Tomy’s success at Long Beach includes a win in Trans Am and podiums in IMSA prototypes. It’s a place Tomy loves to compete.
“This race is everything to me,” said Tomy. “It’s like Formula One’s race at Monaco… Long Beach is iconic. For me personally, I got my first Trans Am win here… I have lots of friends and support here… and it’s my home track. It’s so exciting. You get so caught up in the atmosphere… it’s a race, a concert, a party… it’s everything you want it to be and more. I look forward to it every year.”
“This year is going to be extra special,” added Tomy. “Drissi Motorsports has teamed up with Sony to bring The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Aston Martin for this year’s World Challenge race. We’ll be working with Kevin Buckler and the guys at TRG-AMR to make sure the Aston Martin Amazing Spider-Man 2 car delivers a full-on action packed Spider-Man campaign to the streets of Long Beach. The car looks fantastic and I’m committed to pushing that Aston Martin to the front.”
Destined to be a fan favorite, Drissi Motorsports has gone all out on preparing a special livery for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Aston Martin. The movie, scheduled to open in theaters May 2nd looks to be the summer blockbuster for 2014. In this sequel, Peter Parker continues to stare down his personal demons while waging his fight on crime. We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. It’s great to be Spider-Man. For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro, Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
The 2014 Pirelli World Challenge at Long Beach received a record amount of teams inquiring to enter the prestigious event.
“When we announce our schedule each year, our teams and drivers circle the Long Beach date on their calendars as one of the highlights of the race season,” said Scott Bove, President and CEO, WC Vision. “We received a record amount of inquiries from teams wanting to run in the race. I’m humbled by the growth in the series as we head into our 25th anniversary season.”
“This final entry list for the Pirelli World Challenge at Long Beach is easily the most attractive field that has represented the Series in its long history here at the Toyota Grand Prix. What a collection of race car manufacturers…McLaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Cadillac, Audi and more. This could very well turn out to be the most spectacular race of the weekend and one that our fans will stay to watch on Sunday afternoon,” noted Jim Michaelian, President and CEO of the Long Beach Grand Prix.
The race will air on NBC Sports Network, Sunday, April 20 at 5:30pm. It will re-air Friday, April 25 at 1am. All times are eastern standard.
Based on the growth of viewership for the Series’ inaugural 2014 live stream race from St. Petersburg on world-challengetv.com, the Pirelli World Challenge announced today a five-fold increase in server capacity for their upcoming race at Long Beach, and the Roar By the Shore presented by Kia, as part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend.
