Solid Run For Drissi Cut Short at NASCAR Cheez-It 355 at The Glen

August 13, 2013

Enjoying a good run in No. 87 The Counselor Toyota for NEMCO-JRR, Tomy Drissi got caught up in a mid-race wreck at Watkins Glen. The crash originated with Ron Fellows [33] and Travis Kvapil [93] getting together heading up through the esses. Tomy was then left with nowhere to go when Victor Gonzalez [36] attempted to work through the stacked up traffic.

Tomy was naturally disappointed with the day’s outcome.

“This was coming together as such a great weekend. I love coming to the Glen and I’m having a great time with everyone here in the NASCAR community. My crew is great, the other drivers are a pleasure to be around and the fans are totally into it. This was a perfect weekend to put our movie, The Counselor,” in front of the NASCAR fans.

“We had a really good car and lap times were definitely improving.

“These NEMCO-JRR guys worked so hard getting me comfortable in the car and finding a good setup for me.

“When Ron [Fellows] and Travis Kvapil came together in the uphill esses, traffic immediately stacked up leaving everyone scrambling to get through. Suddenly I found myself with nowhere to go and got tangled up with the 36 car [Victor Gonzalez]. The 36 car was able to slow down, but I couldn’t. We had been running together for quite a bit. I felt bad, he was having a good runƒ as were we. It’s such a shameƒ this would have a been a good finish for us.

“”Thanks again to “Front Row Joe”, Jay Robinson, Tom Legeman and the #87 Team for the giving me another chance to race not only with their team but also in NASCAR with some of the best drivers in the world.”

Next up for Tomy and The Counselor is the Nationwide Childrens Hospital 200, Saturday August 17, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. In addition to the NASCAR Nationwide Series event, Tomy will drive the No. 4 The Counselor Trans Am Corvette for Tony Ave in the 100 mile Trans Am race.

Tomy will resume his regular American Le Mans Series drive with BAR1 Motorsports at Baltimore for the Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by Tequila Patron, Saturday August 31. Tomy will join co-driver Rusty Mitchell in the No. 7 Prototype Challenge car.
