- Tomy Drissi and Drissi Motorsports finished fourth in Sunday’s Trans Am race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
- Drissi put on some of the most exciting on-track battles of the weekend, including a thrilling late-race battle for the final podium spot
- Top five finishes in back-to-back race weeks allowed Drissi to climb to third in the TA standings
Tomy Drissi and Drissi Motorsports wrapped up a successful West Coast swing in the Trans Am by Pirelli championship on Sunday with a fourth place finish at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Drissi, the 2009 Trans Am champion, used top-five finishes in back-to-back race weeks in his home state of California to climb to third in the TA championship standings with the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro.
Between scoring his first podium of the season in the previous round at Sonoma Raceway and his win at Laguna Seca in 2021, Drissi entered the weekend with momentum on his side. After a solid qualifying run, he’d line up third on the final grid, just .005 seconds off a starting spot on the front row.
In a season of high attrition for nearly the whole TA field, Drissi has been a beacon of consistency, and Laguna Seca was no different. Amid the chaos of multiple drivers changing cars for the weekend, caution flags, and spins up front, he remained in the podium hunt all race long. The #8 Camaro was a fixture in some of the most exciting battles for position all weekend, including an exciting battle for third place with Paul Menard in the closing laps.

When Drissi crossed the finish line, he’d be scored fourth, just .083 seconds short of his second podium in as many weeks and his fourth straight podium at Laguna Seca. Nonetheless, the California swing was kind to Drissi’s quest for another championship, as he jumped two spots in the standings in as many weeks.
“I’m glad to wrap up the past two weeks of racing with another great finish at Laguna Seca,” said Drissi. “We were right on the pace all weekend long and so, so close to another podium, and the points will be very valuable as the season continues. Paul was after me for the last few laps, and he barely got by me at the end, but it was just good, hard racing from both of us going for the position.
“It was great to bring Trans Am back to California and meet so many great fans over the past two weeks, and I can’t wait to get back on track again later this month! Thank you to Trench Shoring Company, Motul, Franklin Road Apparel, and the whole team for their support.”
Drissi Motorsports’ next race at the Lime Rock SpeedTour will take place on May 23-26. On Saturday, TA test sessions will take place at 9:45AM and 12:25PM and practice will run at 5:30PM. On Monday, qualifying will kick off at 9:05AM, while the race will go green at 12:55PM and will feature either 68 laps or 75 minutes of action. Tickets remain available here; as always, live streaming will be available on both Speed Sport 1 and the Trans Am YouTube channel.
