Austin, TX – October 2, 2019 – After scoring his fourth podium finish of the season at Virginia International Raceway earlier in September, the 2018 West Coast Trans Am Champion Tomy ‘The Rockin’ Moroccan’ Drissi is aiming to keep his good run of form going and make it a hat trick of podium finishes at the Formula One Circuit of the Americas this weekend, October 3-5, for Round 10 of the 2019 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli Championship events.
Tomy, the 2009 Trans Am Champion, finished on the podium in both 2017 and 2018 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli race events and with the No. 8 Lucas Oil Slick Mist Chevrolet Camaro performing so well at the moment, he has every chance of completing a podium hat trick. Were it not for the calf injury that forced him to sit out three races this season, he would undoubtedly be in the mix for the 2019 Championship over his current position of P7.
Tomy, who is a Hollywood advertising executive when not piloting the 850bhp Camaro, was very much looking forward to returning to a track he knows well and which has been a happy hunting ground for him in recent years, “We had a pretty good race at VIR but I am so looking forward to going to one of the greatest tracks and cities in America, Austin, Texas and COTA. I am excited because the family will be coming to join me and I can’t wait to get out there and get on the track. All we are focused on is the win. I know Burtin Racing has been rubbing on this car since the last race, we will be ready. I can’t wait to meet all the great local Texas fans.”
Opened seven years ago on October 21, 2012, Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a Grade 1 FIA-specification 3.427-mile motor racing track and the current home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix. The upcoming Trans Am action forms a key part of the 2019 U.S. Vintage National Championships and uniquely it is a weekend when the West Coast Championship and the National Championship share the track.
The fan experience at a Trans Am and SVRA event is like no other motorsport as the paddock area is always open to spectators, thereby offering an up-close level of access to cars and drivers. Attendees can check out the garages and see real vintage race cars getting prepped for the track. Race goers will see why the vintage racing community is one of the most friendly and knowledgeable groups of people in the car world. Additionally, vendors on site offer everything from classic car memorabilia to auto detailing products. Fans can get a bite to eat and enjoy the historic racing backdrop to what always ends up being a fantastic weekend of motorsports.
Few if any of the cars on the grid at COTA are as impressive looking as the No. 8 Lucas Oil Slick Mist Chevrolet Camaro piloted by Tomy Drissi and the stunning Lucas Oil blue, red and white decals are bold and bright. Lucas Oil Slick Mist is a polymer paint gloss intensifier, which can also be used on other surfaces such as glass, chrome and vinyl decals. Car owners can utilize Slick Mist as a traditional wax, quick detail spray or can spray it on the vehicle between rinsing and drying for the easiest polish job ever. It can be sprayed on a wet or dry surface and wiped off for a great shine. Slick Mist outperforms the competition and will leave your finish slicker and shinier than any product on the market, with long lasting protection. You and Slick Mist can give any machine an extreme gloss fast.
