Tomy Drissi Joins Burtin Racing in the No. 8 GoShare Retro Chaparral at Fontana for the Trans Am West Season Opener

Tomy Drissi will compete in the first event of the five round 2018 Trans Am West Coast Championships presented by Pirelli at Auto Club Speedway near in Fontana, April 27-29. Together, Tomy and Burtin Racing will debut the No. 8 GoShare/Axalta Chaparral inspired Chevrolet Camaro.

Considered his local track, the former Trans Am Champion is looking forward to making his debut in Burtin Racing colors. To compliment the retro Chaparral inspired livery, Tomy’s prized Trans Am classic, the 1970 Jim Hall Chaparral factory Camaro will be presented for viewing in the paddock with Burtin Racing.
“I’m looking forward to running with the Burtin crew,” said Tomy. “They continually put a fast car on the grid and I think we’re going to do well together. I’m excited we’re starting here at Fontana where I’ll have an opportunity to repeat last year’s win.”
“The No. 8 livery looks great with its retro nod to Jim Hall’s Chaparral racing,” added Tomy. “Trans Am is here with the SVRA Southern California Historic Sports Car Festival, so I’m sure the car will get a lot of attention. We’ll have the original 1970 Chaparral Chevy factory Camaro on display in the paddock as well. I raced the car earlier this month at Long Beach and it was amazing.”
The Drissi / Burtin partnership is set to continue through the national Trans Am presented by Pirelli season with all eyes very much on the Championship. Drissi’s lengthy list of racing accomplishments include wins at the Long Beach Grand Prix, the prestigious Petit Le Mans and three podiums at the Daytona Rolex 24 – along with multiple IMSA and Trans Am victories.
The schedule calls for two practice sessions on Friday with qualifying on Saturday afternoon. Sunday’s race will start at 12:50 p.m. covering a distance of 100.8 miles and 36 laps.

Born December 9 in Hollywood, California, Tomy owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas.

Drissi’s first racing experience in motorsports was street racing on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

• 2000 Trans-Am BBS Most Improved Driver,

• 2000 Trans-Am Crew of the Year

• 2000 Trans-Am Long Beach Champion

• 2010 ALMS (one off race) Prototype LMP1 3rd. at Mid Ohio

• 2011 saw Tomy’s return to the American Le Mans LMPC division. He scored a 2nd at Long Beach, 3rd at Lime Rock, 1st at Mid Ohio,1st at Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix and second at Road Atlanta -Petit Le Mans.

• 2012, Drissi teamed with Bruno Junqiera for finishing 2nd at Laguna Seca, a win at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park), 2nd at Baltimore and second at the season finale, Petit Lemans.

• 2013 NASCAR CUP/Nationwide. Best result at Mid Ohio starting 38th and finishing 19th.

• 2014 IMSA LMPC at Daytona 3rd.

• 2014 NASCAR CUP/Nationwide. Finished 19th at The Glen

• 2015 TUDOR Series. 2nd Place Rolex 24 at Daytona
