Tomy Drissi Heads to Motown for the TransAm 3-Dimensional Services Motor City 100 at Belle Isle

2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi will be back in action with the Ave prepared No. 8 Mustang “War for the Planet of the Apes” TransAm car, when the series descends upon Belle Isle for the Motor City 100, June 3rd., part of the prestigious Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear weekend.

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli joins the Verizon IndyCar Series, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks for one of the great weekends in motorsport, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.

Tomy will also compete in Saturday’s WeatherTech Championship Chevrolet SportsCar Classic.

“I’m really excited about running the TransAm car on Belle Isle,” said Tomy. “We’ve been having a great season in the TransAm Series. We’ve been fast at all the tracks and we’ve dominated the west coast series. Running on a street course is going to require a lot of patience. It’s tight… but at the same time, it’s fast. I drove a Porsche GTD car here a couple of years ago in the IMSA race… but the Ave prepped Mustang is a totally different beast. I imagine we’ll be carrying a lot of speed when we run along the back stretch by the river. That’ll be awesome!”

“I love coming to Detroit,” added Tomy. “Everyone here is totally into the cars and the racing. It’s a challenging track and the fans appreciate it. Everywhere we go, fans come up to us and it makes the whole weekend a party. We always get called out for the movie we feature on the car, so I know they’re going to love that we’re promoting War for the Planet of the Apes.”

A win in Detroit means means joining the likes of Wally Dallenbach, Jr., Scott Pruett, Greg Pickett, Scott Sharp, Ron Fellows, Tommy Kendall, Paul Gentilozzi and more. Detroit is where the light shines the strongest—competitors race in the Motor City… the auto capital of the world with 95,000 fans watching.

In the July 14 release, Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.
