Tomy Drissi announced today he will make his debut appearance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Sonoma, Sunday, June 24. The Trans Am Champion will pilot the No. 10 Ice Age 3 / Continental Drift Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing.
Best known for his road racing expertise in Trans Am, American Le Mans and Wold Challenge sports cars, Tomy has also recorded starts in NASCAR Nationwide Series, and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of driving a cup car on the Sonoma road course. I’ve enjoyed good success on this track and I’m confident I can turn in a good result for the Tommy Baldwin Racing Team. We’ll be campaigning the No. 10 that Danica Patrick ran at Daytona and a few other races this year… my job is to get a solid finish for TBR and some exposure for Ice Age 3. I think we’re in good company to make that happen! “
Tommy Baldwin Racing previously made three starts on road courses in the NSCS. Ron Fellows posted the teams best start of 21st at Watkins Glen in 2010 and best finish of 30th at Watkins Glen in 2011. The team will have two entries in the event with Drissi in the No. 10 Ice Age: Continental Drift Chevrolet and Dave Blaney in the No. 36 Chevrolet.
Tomy will take the track for practice on Friday, June 22 at 3 p.m. EST and qualify at 6:40 p.m., both live on SPEED. There will be a 12:30 p.m. practice and 1:45 p.m. with the latter airing on SPEED at 11 p.m. The 110-lap Toyota/SaveMart 350 from Sonoma Sunday, June 24 at 3 p.m. EST will air live on TNT.
