Finishes 8th Driving The No. 5 Kung Fu Panda 2 / Muscle Milk Porsche GT3
Tomy Drissi finished 8th today driving the No. 5 Kung Fu Panda 2 / Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 in the Pirelli World Challenge Series’ round 5 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowemanville, Ontario. After qualifying 10th for the start of today’s race, Tomy pushed his 2008 Porsche GT3 to its limit maintaining lap times within .5 seconds of the leaders.
“I am totally exhausted,” noted Tomy. “That was incredibly hard racing. We’re running the oldest Porsche in the field and my guys are really getting the most out of it. I was able to run the car right to the edge and never really let the leaders get out of sight. We really accomplished a lot.”
The same could be said for all of the top-10 finishers today as the racing at the front of the field was fast and tight with less than a 20 second spread over the top-10.
“I had a great time out there,” continued Tomy. “I lost a little ground at the start, but once we settled in, it was just hard charging lap after lap. I ran with Rob Morgan [#43 TruSpeed/Entrust Porsche 911 GT3] for most of the race. It was great. Rob and I raced clean and hard throughout the day… he really made me work for it. After the final caution I was able to get around him. But we were still nose-to-tail to the end. It’s awesome to run with someone that you trust… it really makes for great racing.”
Today’s race was the first of a double header for the Pirelli World Challenge Series here at Mosport. The schedule saw qualifying and Round 5 today and will repeat Sunday with qualifying and Round 6. The Pirelli World Challenge events are running as part of the Mosport Victoria Day Speedfest, May 20-22, 2011.
Tomy’s No. 5 Porsche GT3 is carrying the Kung Fu Panda 2 in Theaters May 26 and Muscle Milk livery for both Pirelli World Challenge rounds this weekend.

Born December 9 in Hollywood, California, Tomy owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas. Drissi’s first racing experience in motorsports was street racing on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. His professional racing career highlights include; 1999 Trans-Am Rookie of the Year, 2000 Trans-Am BBS Most Improved Driver, 2000 Trans-Am Crew of the Year and Trans-Am Champion. In 2010 Tomy competed in Trans-Am competing in 7 rounds and taking 1 win, 1 pole, 3 podiums, 4 Top Fives, 7 Top Tens; He also competed in the American Le Mans Series LMP1 class at Mid-Ohio finishing 3rd.
