When the Pirelli World Challenge Championships return to action at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 15-17. Tomy Drissi will return to the site of his first professional win driving the No. 5 X-Men: First Class in Theaters 6.3.11. Muscle Milk Porsche. Drissi hopes to build on his points standings and improve on is 12th and 10th place finishes in rounds one and two.
“I’m really looking forward to running the Porsche in the World Challenge race,” said Drissi. “I was not happy with the performance and results we had in St Pete. My expectations are to run up front. When we tested in the pre-season I was right there with my two team mates. We need to get back to that level. I’m here to race for wins. Anything less is unacceptable.”
Even though Long Beach was the site of Tomy’s first professional win, the track has not always been kind to him. In 2008 the Trans-Am Champion broke his back when a World Challenge Corvette he was driving had the throttle jam and made contact with a concrete barrier at 100 mph. – hard enough to split it. The incident put Drissi in a back brace for three months.
But that was then and this is now. Drissi still calls Long Beach one of his favorite tracks… after all, it’s home.

Always ready for a challenge, Tomy will also campaign the Intersport Racing No. 89 LMPC car sponsored by X-Men: First Class In Theaters 6.3.11. and Muscle Milk in the American Le Mans Series race on Saturday.
“Running two cars on the same weekend will take a lot of focus,” noted Drissi. “The two cars (Prototype vs GT car) could not be any more different. But I’m ready and looking forward to the challenge.”

Tomy Drissi is an American driver and Trans Am Champion. His driver experience includes ALMS, Trans-Am, NASCAR and Speed World Challenge. Born December 9 in Hollywood, California, Tomy owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas. Drissi’s first racing experience in motorsports was street racing on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. His professional racing career highlights include; 1999 Trans-Am Rookie of the Year, 2000 Trans-Am BBS Most Improved Driver, 2000 Trans-Am Crew of the Year and Trans-Am Champion. In 2010 Tomy competed in Trans-Am competing in 7 rounds and taking 1 win, 1 pole, 3 podiums, 4 Top Fives, 7 Top Tens; He also competed in the American Le Mans Series LMP1 class at Mid-Ohio finishing 3rd. Tomy is married to Lacy Livingston Drissi.
