Tomy Drissi, driving the No. 47 Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked / Muscle Milk Porsche for TruSpeed Motorsports, battled through SCCA Pro Racing’s Pirelli World Challenge Series Round 9 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma California today. Starting 5th, Tomy went wheel-to-wheel for the entire 50 minute event, eventually finishing 7th.
“That was one of the toughest races I’ve had in World Challenge,” said Tomy. “Right from the start, we were surrounded by some of the top talent in sports car racing. But I have to say, everyone raced hard and raced clean. Any positions I gained or lost throughout the race, I gained or lost on my own. It was wild.”
“We’ll have another go at it tomorrow,” laughed Tomy. “The car was very good all afternoon. If I had to critique my drive, I’d say I have to work on my braking. I had a good run toward the end with James Sofronas and although I think we had a 3rd or 4th place car, I just need to get better with the Porsche.”
Tomy will definitely have his work cut out for him when the Pirelli World Challenge returns to the track on Sunday afternoon with Round 10. Drivers will start based on their fast lap from Saturday’s race. Drissi will be in the 8th position on the grid. Considering the time spread for the first eight cars is barely .500 of second, Round 10 should be another great race. Green flag is scheduled to drop at 4:50 pm. (PDT). Tomy Drissi is an American driver and Trans Am Champion. His driver experience includes ALMS, Trans-Am, NASCAR and Speed World Challenge. Born December 9 in Hollywood, California, Tomy owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas. Drissi’s first racing experience in motorsports was street racing on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. His professional racing career highlights include; 1999 Trans-Am Rookie of the Year, 2000 Trans-Am BBS Most Improved Driver, 2000 Trans-Am Crew of the Year and Trans-Am Champion. In 2010 Tomy competed in Trans-Am competing in 7 rounds and taking 1 win, 1 pole, 3 podiums, 4 Top Fives, 7 Top Tens; He also competed in the American Le Mans Series LMP1 class at Mid-Ohio finishing 3rd. Tomy is married to Lacy Livingston Drissi.
