Tomy Drissi for X Men: Apocalypse 4th Place Finish at Long Beach

April 20, 2016

Back behind the wheel of the BAR1 Motorsports Prototype, Tomy Drissi, along with Johnny Mowlem, took to the streets of Long Beach for the 2016 Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix. The No. 20 Chevrolet-powered ORECA FLM09, carrying the livery for X Men: Apocalypse, Southwest Funding and Top 1 Oil, finished the race in 4th.

Drissi qualified the car and drove the first stint of the 100 minute street fight before turning the car over to Mowlem.

“This was a tough race,” noted Tomy.“ Johnny and I both gave it everything we had. The team worked hard to give us a good car, but the set up on a street course is very difficult to nail. If you miss it, it can be very hard not having a car you can attack with. We had a good car… it just wasn’t a winning car. The competition was strong and they just got it a little better than we did.”

“Driving with Johnny was great,” said Tomy. “We went there to win and it didn’t happen. Fortunately, 4th place keeps us in the hunt scoring championship points.”

“Long Beach is what I consider my home track,” Tomy continued. “It’s nice having an opportunity to drive in front of friends, family and supporters. The huge party atmosphere made it the perfect venue to unveil the X Men: Apocalypse car. The movie opens May 27. We were also pleased to bring exposure and opportunities to the Arthritis Foundation and the the 2016 Walk the Cure Arthritis.”

Walk to Cure Arthritis is the Arthritis Foundation’s nationwide signature event supporting our mission to conquer arthritis by spreading awareness and raising money for research aimed at finding a cure. Whether you are close to the disease or simply looking for an inspiring charity event, Walk to Cure Arthritis is a great way to experience the power of standing together and giving back to the community.
