  • Tomy Drissi enters this weekend’s Trans Am round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway third in the TA class standings
  • Drissi has three podiums in five races so far in 2026, including a season-best second place at Lime Rock Park last month
  • Drissi finished third at Indianapolis in 2018, also claiming the Western division victory

2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi and the Drissi Motorsports team will continue get back on track this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the series reaches its halfway point of the 2026 season. Drissi and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul Chevrolet Camaro will look to build on the momentum of a season-best second place finish at Lime Rock Park in what is expected to be one of the most exciting events of the current Trans Am campaign.

Coming into the weekend, Drissi maintains the third spot in the TA class championship, thanks in part to his results at Lime Rock last month. It was his third podium in five starts this season, as well as his second in a row at the Connecticut track. More impressive was the fact that Drissi overcame the switch to a backup car to do it after an incident in pre-race testing.

Despite how iconic both the track and series are in American motorsport history, Trans Am has visited Indianapolis just four times, from 2017-19 and again in 2023. Drissi has competed in three of those four events, with a best finish so far of third in 2018. He also came out on top of the TA class in Trans Am West that day, helping him secure the regional championship later that year. He’ll pursue a similar result against one of the strongest fields of the season, with nearly 30 entries across all classes competing on Sunday.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to Indy for the next round of Trans Am action!” said Drissi. “It’s been a few years since we’ve been able to race here, but I have fond memories of being on the podium in 2018. Indianapolis is such a historic venue that it’s always an honor to race at, and it’ll be even more exciting with such a deep field. We had a great team effort to get on the podium at Lime Rock, and we’re going to go for the same thing this weekend.”

Drissi’s weekend at Indianapolis begins with optional test sessions on Friday at 11:10AM and 4:45PM. On Saturday, he’ll take on practice at 10:05AM, followed by qualifying at 4:55PM. Sunday’s race will go green at 2:15PM and will last for 42 laps or 75 minutes. Tickets remain available, while Racing America will have free live coverage for practice, qualifying, and the race itself for fans who can’t attend.
