January 25, 2013

Tomy Drissi rejoins Team Sahlen for the 60th anniversary running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Tomy will join Bruno Junqiera, Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker and Will Nonamaker. Both the #42 and #43 Sahlen BMW-Rileys will feature the upcoming Bruce Willis movie, A Good Day To Die Hard, opening February 14th.

The event will mark a return for Tomy to the Sahlen camp, having driven with the team in 2005. Tomy shared his thoughts on rejoining the team for the 24. – “I am very excited to be re-joining Team Sahlen and running in the Rolex 24.

“I remember our adventures together way back in 2005 with the Sahlen Porsches,” said Tomy. “They are my idea of a perfect race team; a professional group with the right amount of family atmosphere thrown in to make it fun.”

“The ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona is one of the premier endurance events in the world,” Tomy continued. “To be able compete in this event within the Daytona Prototype class with a chance to win overall is a dream come true.”

Earlier this month, the team participated in the “Roar before the 24.” The test was the last chance for teams to shake down their race cars before the big ROLEX 24 at Daytona that is held at the end of January

For Tomy and Team Sahlen, the test was another step in the process of learning a new race car and class. While not new to the ROLEX series, 2013 marks the Team Sahlen’s transition into the Daytona Prototype class with their 2 BMW-Rileys.

The Rolex 24 features international stars of Daytona Prototype and GT class racing twice around the clock in the ultimate test of driver and machine. The race will go green at 3:30 PM Saturday, January 26 and take the checkered flag 24 hours later at 3:30PM, Sunday, January 27. The race will air on SPEED.
