2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi will team up with 2012 champion Simon Gregg as Drissi Motorsports returns to a two-car lineup this weekend at Circuit of the Americas for the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season finale. Drissi will once again take the wheel of the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro as he looks to defend third in the TA championship, while Gregg will return his family’s famous #59 to the grid in the second Drissi Motorsports Camaro.
Drissi remains third in Trans Am points coming into the 2025 season finale, and COTA has been one of his best tracks in recent years. He’s been a regular on the podium, starting with four third place finishes from 2017-21 and a win in the West Coast Championship in 2017. Last year, Drissi and Don Yount teamed up to give Drissi Motorsports a double podium to end the season, with Drissi second and Yount third. This year, he’s called in another former series champion in Gregg in pursuit of more hardware for the team.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to COTA for the Trans Am season finale, especially with Simon Gregg as my teammate,” said Drissi. “This has been a hard fought season, and we want to finish strong at one of my best tracks. Simon has been an incredible teammate of mine in the past, and having another champion under the Drissi Motorsports banner only makes us stronger!”
The son of former Trans Am champion and five-time 24 Hours of Daytona winner Peter Gregg, Simon Gregg made his Trans Am debut in 1997, has made over 200 series starts, and joined his father as a series champion in 2012. He also earned back-to-back Trans Am Western Championship titles in 2019 and 2020. Off track, through the Peter Gregg Foundation, he carries on the Gregg family legacy by providing annual scholarships to talented young sports car mechanics and engineers. This weekend will mark his first start in the series since 2022.

“It’s very exciting to be back in Trans Am and to race alongside Tomy once again,” said Gregg. “I’ve missed the series and racing these cars, and I have special memories from COTA after being honored there for my 200th series start in 2020. It’s going to be great to catch up with some old friends, get back on track, and hopefully put both Drissi Motorsports cars on the podium, just like last year.”
Drissi and Gregg will have a full weekend at COTA, starting on Friday with a pair of test sessions at 12:10PM and 5:55PM. Saturday will see them hit the track for practice at noon and qualifying at 5:10PM, while Sunday’s race will go green at 12:40PM for 30 laps or 75 minutes. As always, races will be streamed live on Trans Am social media and SPEED SPORT 1. Click here to buy tickets to watch Tomy and Simon race!
