Pirelli World Challenge Series’ Rounds 5 and 6 at Mosport International Raceway

Leaving the sunny confines of Hollywood, California, Tomy Drissi is heading to Canada where he will drive the No. 5 Kung Fu Panda 2 / Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 in the Pirelli World Challenge Series’ rounds 5 and 6 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowemanville, Ontario.

Known for its rolling terrain and high speed corners, Mosport with its enthusiastic race fans is always a favorite among drivers. Tomy is no exception.

“I love coming up to Canada,” said Tomy. “The fans are the best. They’re knowledgable and they are totally into the racing. We always have a good time here and we’re always treated extremely well.”

The track also has a history of providing very good racing. Tomy has had several stand-out performances at Mosport including 3rd place at the 2000 Trans-Am Series event and again in 2003 when he put his Rocketsports Jaguar XKR on the outside pole… just heartbeat off the quick time of then teammate, Scott Pruett.

“We’ve had some great runs over the years at Mosport,” Tomy added. “It’s a fast track… but it can be a very unforgiving track. Going over the top of turn two can be a real eye-opener… yet coming up the backside on the Andretti straight, it’s nothing short of a thrill.”

Through the first four rounds of the Pirelli World Challenge Series, Tomy has managed to better his finishing position in each and every race. He’s anxious to keep that streak alive.

“We’re making a lot of headway finding my comfort level with the Kung Fu Panda 2 Porsche,” said Drissi. “I’m getting much more comfortable with nuances of the car and I’m anxious to see how it responds to this track. The Porsches should be very good here.”

The No. 5 Porsche GT3 will carry the Kung Fu Panda 2 in Theaters May 26 livery for both Pirelli World Challenge rounds this weekend. The schedule calls for two practice sessions on Friday with qualifying and Round 5 on Saturday. The schedule will repeat with qualifying and Round 6 on Sunday. The Pirelli World Challenge events are running as part of the Mosport Victoria Day Speedfest, May 20-22, 2011. Both races will air Saturday, June 18 3 p.m. Eastern on Versus.
