Tomy Drissi Showcases the Good Day To Die Hard Porsche at Circuit of the Americas

November 19, 2012
Tomy Drissi enjoyed his weekend being among the first drivers to race at Austin’s Circuit of The AmericasTM. Circuit of the Americas is the United States’ first purpose-built Grand Prix track and entertainment facility. As part of the United States Grand Prix Formula One weekend, Drissi raced the Good Day To Die Hard TruSpeed Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in Sunday morning’s 10 Lap Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West race.
“The Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA race was a blast,” said Tomy. “Not only was it a great opportunity to drive on this world-class facility, it was a great weekend. We were able to introduce more race fans to Fox and our movie themed cars and we were part of US racing history”
“I had a tough race though,” added Tomy. “I started sixth and immediately got up to third by turn one. Unfortunately, I got smacked pretty hard in the rear and the car wasn’t right after that. The rear end of the car was really in a bad way. I was able to continue… but the handling was really bad. I managed to get a few spots back and end the day in eighth. The TruSpeed guys worked hard having a good car all weekend. It’s too bad we didn’t get the chance to show what the Good Day To Die Hard Porsche could do.”
The new 3.427-mile, 20-turn Circuit of the Americas, designed by veteran F1 architect Hermann Tilke, was a big hit with everyone involved. Race day saw 117,000 spectators and received world wide coverage and acclaim. For Tomy, the weekend was a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge of the new track prior to the first American Le Mans Series race which is scheduled as a double-header weekend with the FIA World Endurance Championship on Sept. 20-22, 2013.
