The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron returns to action this weekend at Lime Rock Park for the annual Northeast Grand Prix. Tomy Drissi resumes his quest for the podium driving the No. 7 The Wolverine Prototype Challenge car with co-driver, Rusty Mitchell and the BAR1 Motorsports team.
Set in the lush hills of Lakeville, Connecticut, Lime Rock Park is 1.5 miles up hill and down. While it may look deceivingly simple, it is a serious challenge to get around the circuit quickly. Toss in nearly forty competitors running in five different classes, you’ve got a big job on your hands.
While he may love the track, Tomy is well aware of the task at hand:
“Lime Rock Park is the bull ring of road racing. It’s fast, tight and you’re fighting for every inch of track. I absolutely love driving here.
“Whether your running in a P1 car or a GT Challenge, you need total focus and you really need to be patient.
“We know we can be quick here and I’m confident we’ll have a good car for the circuit. Plus I’ve been on the Lime Rock podium a couple of times before. I know my way to victory lane.
Keeping clean is going to be the order of the day. If we do that, I think we’ll find our rightful spot on the podium.”
The No. 7 car will be featuring a new livery for The Wolverine movie opening in theaters July 27. The Wolverine is an upcoming American/Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine and is intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men film series. Hugh Jackman reprises his role from previous films as the title character. Set sometime after X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages a mysterious figure from his past in a fight that has lasting consequences. Vulnerable for the first time, and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel, but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than ever before.

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón is the world`s leading sports car championship and is recognized as the Global Leader in Green Racing. In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars – purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles – race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing. All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies. The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom. The ALMS competes at North America`s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
